Residents of the Takoradi metropolitan area have raised deep concerns over the recent issue of water in their communities and districts hence making water related issues in the metropolis a debacle yet to be solved.

Domestic water supply over the past few months have been cut short with residents crying and expressing dissatisfaction over the attitude of the Ghana Water Company Limted.

This morning on the Kingdom Breakfast Show, Takoradi police lamented the woes of inhabitants and residents of areas and communities such as the Ketan and Essikado township, Anaji and Kwesimintsim communities where water has run into scarce mode.

Nii Okai,a resident of the Essikado area spoke to Mr.Ebo Blankson , the Takoradi Police segment host. He said: the very worrying factor is that, the Ghana Water Company’s office is located right here and they do the know our woes in trying to get water from other areas and sources which slows down their activities for the day and especially children who have to wash down and do other domestic activities before the day. They have to travel long distances and pay two Ghana Cedis so as to get water for their domestic use.

The process of searching and retrieving water however sometimes turns into conflicts which leads to families and factions and individuals to fight among st themselves which is really a worrying factor.

The Public Relations Officer of the Western Region Ghana water company who spoke in response to the on the Kingdom Breakfast show said that they have been facing some challenges with the water capacity supply from their two main reservoirs in Inchaban and Shama hence the reason for the shortage of water supply to some areas in the Takoradi area. He assured residents with water shortage issues that they keep calm and their water related problems will be addressed soon. He went on to apologize for the inconvenience caused but this did not go down well with the residents as they phoned in with comments suggesting that the PRO of the Ghana Water Company Limited, Western Region was not telling the truth.

Osikani Frimpong Manso however inquired of a time residents should expect free flowing of water but Mr.Nana Yaw Bannieh could not state a precise date but will get back to us and the residents shortly with a timetable of when water is going to flow to various communities.
