What’s preventing Songstress Kaakie to serve music enthusiasts with good music like before?
It has been revealed that an entrenched clause in her contract with Xtra Large Music headed by Jam Master Jay is the problem. Thus, the entrenched clause forbids Kaakie to perform any of the songs released under the label if she parts ways with the label someday.
Fast forward in 2017, the unexpected happened and Kaakie parted ways with Jam Master Jay’s Xtra Large Music. Consequently, her promising music career has returned to autopilot which is nothing but unfortunate. But the good news is that CEO of Xtra Large Music has finally reacted to the entrenched clause under scrutiny.
Jam Master Jay in a virtual comprehensive interaction with Amansan Krakye of Radio Central fame, he reiterated that some artistes don’t write their own songs; so under no circumstances should such artistes claim ownership of such songs perhaps as in the case of Kaakie.
Per our checks, Kaakie never wrote a single song under Xtra Large Music. Therefore, all her chart-toping songs were either bought by Jam Master Jay or the record owner put the lyrics together all by himself. So, all that Kaakie had to offer the label was to use her soothing voice to sing the curated verses in a recording studio.
Explaining further, Jam Master Jay quizzed the host, Amansan Krakye if he’ll carry the same concept of the radio station he’s currently with to a different radio station if there comes a time he’s pushed to change working environment. Similarly to Kaakie, the label helped her with all the hit songs so by no means she can claim ownership of the songs.
In simple terms, if she has parted ways with Xtra Large Music, she should hustle hard and come out with her own written songs that she can perform freely without any obstacles or whatsoever.
